Grasslands - a "Green Topic" for University Students

None

Young people are a powerful resource of creativity, imagination and hard work. They care about nature, the climate and, most importantly, they are willing to take action. This has also been reflected in the grassroots movements of recent years, even in Romania. Globally, there are more and more sources of information available - from award-winning documentary films to information provided by experts on social media. But what about at local, regional or national level? What do young people know about their natural heritage?

Grasslands, along with woodlands, rivers, lakes and wetlands, are one of the most important ecosystems in our country. However, they are not as much mentioned in the public debate as forests, for instance. This is why we set out to talk to young people about the importance of these less popular habitats. We aim to reach out to university students and graduates in particular, inviting them to attend our ecological seminars. We will carry out in six cities - Arad, Cluj-Napoca, Miercurea Ciuc, Oradea, Timișoara and Tîrgu Mureș, and the seminars will be held in Romanian and Hungarian.

The seminars focusing on the grasslands of Romania will be presented by specialists in ecology, botany and ornithology, and will cover topics such as: humans and grasslands, their biodiversity and traditional farming practices. Participants will also learn about ecosystem services and the multifunctional aspects of grasslands.

Dear students, check the calendar below for the scheduled dates and locations. We look forward to seeing you!

The most outstanding projects will be published on our platforms and will be rewarded - with a total prize of €2,500!
