Out of the 52 projects we had received, the project team made a pre-selection based on topic relevance, and the final ranking resulted from the scores the jury gave to all the remaining applicants.

Undergraduate and graduate students from all over the country enrolled in the creative contest "Eyes on Grasslands", which we launched on 21 July. By the deadline of 15 October, 40 students submitted 52 works (40 in the Image and 12 in the Video section), including illustrations, photos, posters, graphics, animations, and drama.

This has also been reflected in the grassroots movements of recent years, even in Romania. Globally, there are more and more sources of information available - from award-winning documentary films to information provided by experts on social media. But what about at local, regional or national level? What do young people know about their natural heritage?

Small-scale farmers in Romania administer grasslands, some of which are considered High Nature Value (HNV) farmlands. Statistics, however, show that they can hardly cope with the economic pressures, and they need governmental support to maintain grasslands in a favorable state of conservation.
